Samira Rahman 

I work to empower people, especially women and multicultural individuals, through science and well-being. I am proud to be multicultural; I was born and raised in Stockholm, Sweden, and have Bengali roots. I grew up in the suburbs of Rinkeby and Kista, why I care extra about supporting the Järva area.

I have always been very passionate about science; I started doing research when I was 17 years old at Karolinska Institutet when I was 18 years old I was awarded a scholarship to the Research Science Institute at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard Medical School. 

​

I continued with science and have a B.Sc in Biomedicine from Karolinska Institute, the medical university that decides the Nobel Prize. I took a M.Sc. degree in Intellectual Capital Management from the School of Business, Economics, and Law at Gothenburg University as I wanted to bridge the gap between science and business. I have complemented my studies with courses in Gender Studies and through my work as a social entrepreneur, why I today have a unique transdisciplinary background.

Given my science and business background, I have been working within the life science industry for over 10 years. I currently work for the world’s largest over-the-counter pharmaceutical company, Perrigo, within sales and with Diversity & Inclusion on a Nordic and global level.

​

I love connecting with people, I am a community builder and have founded several networks in Sweden, in addition to being a member of some of Sweden’s most exclusive talent networks for business professionals.

​

My latest project is building the much-needed community for empowering multicultural women to better mental health through We Listen In. WLI is a unique not-for-profit organization within the mental health field in Sweden; our board consists of only multicultural women, we are a transdisciplinary organization, we focus on inbetweenship (mellanförskap), and are first in Sweden to address bicultural stress (the stress multicultural individuals face when navigating between different cultures).

In addition to We Listen In and my corporate job at Perrigo I run my own consultancy company, SR Consulting & Invest, through which I offer lectures and project management skills within events. 

​

Having been part of the entrepreneurial and venture capital scene in Stockholm, I know how few female-owned startup companies there are and therefore chose to become one of the investors behind RadCap, an investment firm that wants to create more equal ownership in society.

​

I have been awarded as one of the future leaders in Health Care & Life Sciences by Nova and as a Change Leader (a role model and inspiration for others to create a better world) by Reach for Change, one of Sweden's most recognized organizations for social entrepreneurs.
